A HERO FOUNDATION
A Hero Foundation was established in 2006 with a mission to plan, promote, and execute programs to assist members of the United States Armed Forces transitioning back into civilian life. We are committed to building online programs to allow veterans to break through cultural and educational confines that limit their transition back into the civilian world, while also recognizing those who do amazing things for their community.
Our flagship program Hire A Hero (www.hireahero.org) is the premier online job board and community of choice for those who have served our country and has helped thousands of veterans and their spouses connect to employers who value their service, work ethic and loyalty to our country.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE
Hello. My name is Dan Hughes and I am so pleased that our paths have crossed in this remarkable journey of ours. Most of my friends, from childhood through beyond my college football days call me Danny, and I welcome you to do the same.
I love coaching. There is no bigger thrill than helping people of all age, gender, ethnicity and backgrounds see a bigger vision for themselves, find their purpose, architect a plan to get there and having the opportunity to support and witness improvements, setbacks and breakthroughs on their way to achieving their goals.
I reckon if I had the opportunity to rewind the clocks, I would have gone right into coaching the game of football after my playing career at Kansas State University like many of my teammates.
But during the course of a 30-years technology sales and entrepreneurial career, I ended up pretty damn good at this strategic sales, marketing and start-up stuff and turned my attention to working with people wanting to make a difference. Supporting those local, small or early-stage social impact innovators, business owners and entrepreneurs with big dreams and the desire to make an impact on the communities they serve.
I am a simplifier. Most of my time spent with clients is in helping them simplify and optimize their messages for developing lead flow and revenues, accessing and securing of investment capital, building relationships with corporate brands, and identifying the “influence” capital essential to accelerate their businesses and impact.
Along the way, I developed substantial relationships with the Private Wealth, Family Office, Foundations and Endowment communities, both domestic and international, and spend considerable time advising and expanding their field of vision and deal flow to support their impact investment and venture philanthropy initiatives and goals.
Lastly, I am really good at listening. Probably better than most, as I’ve had little choice due to the severity of my hearing loss since birth. Navigating early childhood, playing Division 1 College Football as a wide receiver, joining Hewlett-Packard as my first job out of college and a career spent building rapport, relationships and tremendous revenues as a sales professional, business development and an internet entrepreneur with limited hearing, requires the development of some strong listening skills. A book is in development to share more of this journey and the lessons learned on Listening.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my Personal Note and hope it inspires you to explore deeper and learn more. More importantly, let me know if you believe I can help you make an impact on the lives of others you are wish to do.
And also come with a good story. I always enjoy those.
